LIVE THE LIFE

  some mindless thoughts....
I miss something... I miss my companion. I miss my moments with it. The relationship that we have built since year one is still going on strong. We have gone through numerous obstacles together throughout these hardship years. Sigh.... Life without it for a week has been such a torturous period. I miss you.... I miss my HP counterpart. My HP counterpart is away for a holiday break at the YIH computer service center. Hopefully, we would be reunited soon.

School is getting more gory and gruesome. Every seminar seems like a battlefield. Much preparation needs to be done before surging into the missions. Plus, just like a real infantry unit, we need real courage and bravery besides being equipped with the right "weapons".

Hmmm.. I had just painted a hideous image of my school life. Maybe I should have romanticized it since school isnt as bad as I think it is. Oh yes, yesterday we had a discussion while eating lunch. We finally nailed down who are we,after three years in school. Intan is a classic realist whereas Dillah is a constructivist. On the other hand, I am a neo-realist. Would explain more about that next time. I need to get back to my readings....

  Friday
Today I went shopping for new stuffs with Darling Dear. This was not the usual shopping-in-the-spur of moment. This was the urgent-type-of-shopping (although Darling Dear may greatly beg to differ with me). I am running out of cash. Shit. Hate that feeling. I mean, who dont right? It seems to me that I cannot afford to buy any luxurious goods for a long, long time. Bugis Village would be my new place for bargain hunting instead of Takashimaya. No more shopping spree in Takashimaya. Not for a good period of time. Hate that feeling (yet, again)

We went to watch the German Movie at Cineleisure. It was a real eye-opener since it was about how Germans tried to rebel against the Nazi-Socialist Government. Very interesting. Watching foreign movies is quite a lovely experience since there would be no pesky secondary students in the theater. My apologies but seriously, these kids annoyed me. It is hopelessly impossible to indulge yourself in a great movie when these kids make a great din here and there. Plus, they just have to come in big groups. Extremely irky.

Need to get some rest now. Feeling sleepy and tired. Tomorrow's Mendaki and then I will be off to Pulai for the weekend. I promise that I would come up with something more interesting to write next time. My muse is MIA, yet again. Hehe...

  FATE
I had a surge of excitement running through my spine. My muse whom had been MIA from my thoughts suddenly appeared before me and influenced me to write about the whole complexitiy surrounding FATE. Frankly speaking, what exactly is fate? How does it affects us so much?

Standing true to my religion, I believed implicitly that every individual had his/her fate written by the Mighty God before being born into this mystical world. Each person has his/her role assigned beforehand. And thus, some people would grow up to become leaders whereas others become the workers. Hmm... Maybe that was how Karl Marx came up with the theory of Marxism. He simply believed in fate.

I watched a re-run of an "Amy Mastura" Movie in the late afternoon just now. Although I had watched that movie for many times and practically memorized the whole plot, that movie still struck a chord in me. The movie was about this typical factory girl who always dreamt of becoming a real princess. Fairy Godmother came knocking on her door one day which certainly changed her life. Miss Ordinary Next-Door girl bloomed into Cinderella when a real prince fell in love with her. However, the movie had no fairytale ending. She decided to dutifully ditch the prince because of the great contrast in their status in society.

Fairytales just do not happen in real life. If you are fated to be a commoner, you would be one until your last breath. We could not choose who our parents are. Fate decides it for us. If you are lucky, you would be born with a silverspoon in your mouth. If luck does not stand by your side, you would be born during a crisis. Yes, it is true that we can change our course of life as we go through the journey. Nevertheless, there are boundaries which are firmly set. Boundaries which we cannot cross easily. Boundaries which are destined and restricted us from overcoming them. And that is where fate comes in. Fate decides what you should do during your course on earth. The best we can do is to accept our fate or go around it.

I do have dreams. Dreams which have wings to fly high. Nevertheless, I am not Icarus. Because some dreams are not meant to happen. Because fate said so.

  EIE
It has been a while since I last wrote in. I was caught up in school work and was involved in the EIE programme. The EIE was splendid. Besides meeting new people from multifareous backgrounds, I was given the opportunity to engage in serious discussions on the issue of ethnicity in the local context. It was amazing how serious the problem actually is. Although Singapore is not experiencing intense racial frictions, the societal fabric is still very much fragile. The discussions were seriously an eye opener for me especially when we started to share our experiences and owns' perspectives on how racism has affected us.

I simply adore engaging in such intense discussions on topics which intrigued me. The tug of war activity was really cool. It certainly reflected greatly the stark reality of living in a multi-racial society, like Singapore. We were told to group ourselves according to our owns' ethnicity. For obvious reasons, the Chinese had the most manpower. The other minority groups had a hard time trying to win. Strangely, after some moments we realized that the other racial groups were ganging up together against the majority group. That is a perfect reflection of how the Singapore society will be like if racism is very much prevalent.

The food was good. It was specially catered for us. Accomodation was marvellous. The rooms were fully air-conditioned, with carpeted floor, a fridge, cable tv and glass-door shower rooms. I felt like on a holiday instead of staying overnight in NTU. The whole experience was fun, yet enriching.
