On another note, here is an image of a bloody driver who simply could not be bothered to park his Mercs in a proper parallel parking fashion. Idiot!

Ho-humm... Morning people. I woke up feeling an urge to write a blog entry so here I am, sitting in front of the laptop and typing away!

First and foremost, a happy Hari Raya to all the Muslims! Let us celebrate this fiesty event with a sense of great triumph; after all we have been fasting diligently for a month. As for me, this Hari Raya is a rather dull occasion aka Im not really in the mood for celebrating. All thanks to the trunkload of work that needs to be done asap. What with four presentations for the next two weeks and policy paper due, it is of to no wonder that I cannot fully enjoy Hari Raya. Every moment spend visiting houses, eating the delicious delicacies is also a moment spent thinking about the work which is not executed by yours truly. One word to describe such a mixed sensation- SUX.

Its four days to my policy paper deadline and I am still at policy evaluation section. Prof Quah kept on stressing that we should spend more time on the evaluation section and yes, I have only four days to complete the task, proof edit, construct the annex section which is laden with tables, charts and bind the whole paper since it would be about 30 pages or so, before handing it in on Wednesday. And the best part? I have a presentation on Japan in the next morning itself. This implies that I have to prepare the presentation and write the policy paper concurrently for the next four days. How shitty can it get, huh. I wish I could fast forward this shitty period.

Well, enough of my grumblings. for now...tsk

It has been a long, long time since I last dropped by. Recently, I had a birthday treat by the Darling little boyfriend. As the passe phrases go, "a picture paints a thousand words," here is a collection of pictures taken during the treat. Ps: I do not have time to edit them.

The week had been an excellent one. I had an iftar with the Pol Sci girls at Arab Street on Monday. Intan and I revamped our crowning glories on Tues and now, I am spotting curly locks instead of my usual straight tresses. On Friday, we went to CNB for our field trip with Prof Quah and came home with a laptop bag filled with goodies sponsored by the rich people from CNB. The night rounded off with a Swensen treat where I had my usual pasta and Swensen's version of D24-the banana split. So far so good... and yes, I am at the concluding part of my terrorism essay -Smiles-

Actually, I want to rattle about some other issues but since this is a random post, let me pen down thoughts about myself in a randomly fashion manner (for what? for fun, peace, joy and laughter)

1. I like to do my work at my table instead of on bed.
2. I cannot concentrate on work if my table is disorganized and cluttered
3. I bring my organizer whereever and whenever I go because my memory seems to fail me sometimes.
4. I prefer to wear shades outdoors not because I fantasize myself as a superstar but more for practical purposes-wearing contact lenses makes my eyes more sensitive. Sometimes, I seriously wonder whether I was a dracula in my past lifetime; my eyes simply cant take in too much light.
5. Every night, I watch 'Spongebob', the cartoon on Nick's with my sister and we would laugh loudly which pisses my dad off who is trying to get some sleep.
6. I like to buy marshmallows and roast them on the stove. Yummy...
7. I still share room and bed with my sister.
8. Doing jigsaw puzzles is something which I still enjoy ever since young.
9. I am easily bored with the way I look and that explains my forever-changing of hairstyles and thus, the over-processed hair.
10. Contrary to popular perceptions, I actually love cooking only that my dad does not appreciate my culinary skills.

Hmmm.... yeah.. thats the end of my random writing. Sign off.

Hello World!

I just got back from a Iftar with Residence sponsored by the Southwest CDC people. Strangely,
the event wasnt as half-bad as we thought it was. Actually, We were very reluctant to attend the event. Our job was to act as exhibitionists for the MPs.We had to explain to them the meaning of Ramadhan in great details. At the very least, we had the opportunity to communicate with the Mayor-Amy Koh and boy, she was extremely grateful for our mild contributions to the event. After the event, each of us was supposed to conduct surveys. I was having a hard time trying to communicate with the Apeks and the Nyonyas. They cant speak English and I cant speak Mandarin well. And the survey form was in English (DUh!) Obviously, there was a communication breakdown. The event was meant for the grassroots people under the Southwest CDC and I realized that many of them are in fact, Apeks and Nyonyas who are so damn cinaaaa that they cant utter a single English word for nuts. No wonder people said that grassroots members are sooo cinaaaaaa.

We went to Ya Kun for an after-event eatery. We did not have a hearty dinner since by the time we got into the buffet line, there was hardly any food left.

Oh yes, I MUST said this out loud. THE HAZE IS BLOODY ANNOYING. I am having a minor cough whenever I go out. My eyes feel slightly itchy thanks to the wonderful misty weather. The weather is hotter be it in the day or at night. And the whole of Singapore is being blanketed in a misty dreamy cloud. Only that it is not fog. It is haze which is becoming so bad that it can passed off as a SMOG. Bloody irritating. Seriously, Singapore should just fuck off with this bloody non-intereference, the so-called ASEAN WAY and tell Indonesia off. If they retaliate, Singapore should just resort to policy of deterrence. Hopefully, other SEA states would bandwagon Singapore.

Haha... Of course the situation is more complicated and it is difficult to solve. Whatever it is, political elites are supposedly smart enough to come up with some intelligent and feasible solutions. They should better do it fast before the whole of Singapore disappeared from sight due to very heavy smoke. Before Singaporeans feel that we are actually living in the clouds. In man-made dusty clouds.

Tired.... But Dangz! need to work on my essays. Bummer... Its going to be a bloody looooong night.....

I woke up with a real bloody runny nose today. This was not the usual-runny-nose morning routine that I experienced practically every morning (I have Sinus, Bleargh). It was a very bad one. Then, I realized what was the root cause of my problem. Looking out of the window, I realized how HAZY the weather was! Simply horrible. Stupid forest fires had ruined my Sunday morning.

Yesterday, my students were gossiping and complaining to me about their school lives. They told me about other girls who bad-mouthed and labelled them 'bitches.' One of my female students even shared her 'grievances' of having her boyfriend shamelessly stolen away by her enemy. She complained that her 'enemy' vandalized the class tables by writing horrid things about her. It turned out that their steadfast 'enemy' is a girl whom I taught in the next class.

It was quite hilarious listening to their stories. It made me reflect back my own secondary school life where everyone was also finding faults with each other. Life as a student must have been pretty dull since teenagers like to spruce things up and create mindless issues among themselves. I tried to justify the labelling of 'bitches' by the other girls to my students. I told them there was a possibility that the other girls feel threatened by their 'supreme' dominance and power in school. Strangely, they took my words for it.

Anyway, that is one particularly nice aspect of becoming a teacher even though I am just a part-time one. Students tend to listen to you for advise when it comes to dealing with life issues. On the contary, they would hardly listen to you regarding school work. Sheesh....

While reading the ST today, I stumbled upon an article about "Why foreign brides are hot while local brides are not." This article clearly reflected the social stigma of the Singaporean guys. That they are simplistic and having distorted world view. I would not call them conservatives because I think they are more of mindless people. Get this. This Singaporean guy has a Vietnamese bride because foreign ladies (as in women from Third World countries) does not expect much from him " Her requests are simple: Care for me, dont bully me and dont go out to look for other women." I just have one thing to say to him. "GET A LIFE DUDE!" For heaven's sake, this is the 21st century world and Singapore is at the forefront of development. We are not living in stone age where women are bestowed the special role of taking care of the men's needs only. Nowadays, women are carrying more responsibilities compared to men. Marriage is not simply just about obtaining the basic requirements, it should be more than that. The chauvinistic Singaporean male (who actually holds a degree holder) said that Singaporean women are not interested in him because of his small frame. In my opinion, he does not want to marry Singaporean women because he feels ENDANGERED by them! Singaporean women are a smart, ambitious and articulate lot. Many of the Singaporean men are not! Haha... No wonder many of the Singaporean women are marrying Westerners because at the very least, they are at a level of intelligence compatability.
